The title for this blog is taken from the fantastic "The Squirrel's Birthday," a great favorite of The Bean's. It's fitting, because I come from a family of non-cake-eaters (we'll make an exception for a good, moist carrot cake, and of course cheesecake doesn't count), and married a fellow pie and cookie lover.
I'm a midwestern mom of two, sometimes web designer, proud Notre Dame '06 grad (greatest class of all time!), and Jill-of-all-trades. Mom was a Home-Ec major, and Dad's a farm boy engineer, so I like to say that us kids won the self-sufficiency/DIY lottery. I'll have some of those projects here, along with book reviews and other sorts of adult conversation. Because I could use a little of that.
